Tribune Broadcasting’s WHO-HD Des Moines won 28 awards for journalism excellence on April 13, 2019. The station received the "Best Newcast" first place honor at the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association annual awards for coverage of the Molly Tibbetts case, in addition to 10 other accolades.
The Iowa Broadcast News Association awarded WHO-HD 17 awards, including "Overall Excellence" honors for best news operation state-wide.
