TEGNA’s KARE 11 in Minneapolis, Minn., partnered with Second Harvest Heartland for a Day of Giving to deliver food to those facing hunger in the region.

Nearly half a million Minnesotans – including 1 in every 8 children – are facing hunger. More than 30% of K-12 students in Minnesota rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year. The arrival of summer break means the kids who rely on free or reduced-price meals face the prospect of going hungry, making this Day of Giving critical.

"We’re trying to raise money to provide a million meals to this community. So, we need this community to stick with us and help us make it happen," said Second Harvest Heartland’s CEO, Allison O’Toole.
