Hubbard Broadcasting’s KOB-TV Albuquerque, N.M., was nominated for a Service to Community Award in the Television – Large Market category.

New Mexico is called “The Land of Enchantment” because of its diverse terrain, abundance of wildlife and natural beauty. To help protect this bounty, the KOB news team took a critical look at what was threatening natural resources across the state. During an eight-part investigative series, this local news team dedicated over 80 minutes of on-air time to inform local communities about harmful threats. From identifying the source of ground water contamination to revealing the dangerous effects of abandoned uranium mines, these reports called on the New Mexico state legislature and the United States Congress to help protect the most vulnerable parts of the state.
