ABC-owned KFSN-TV Fresno, Calif. aired “Safe From Scams: Protecting kids from identity theft.” The piece highlights a case of an eight-year-old girl whose social security number was stolen, but her parents did not realize it until she turned 18. By then, she was $15,000 in debt and could not qualify for student loans. It took the family a year to clear her credit.
