Bonneville’s KTAR-FM Phoenix won a 2014 NAB Crystal Radio Award for its outstanding public service efforts in 2013. Throughout the year, KTAR-FM dedicated a week of content in primetime to launch a community-based content series, “Voice for a Better Arizona: Arizonans in Need,” with the goal of driving awareness for organizations and individuals in need and offering easy avenues for its listeners to get involved and volunteer. More than 30 local groups were given a platform to share their inspiring stories. As Arizona’s heritage Veterans Day parade was on the financial brink of cancelling, KTAR-FM organized an awareness campaign encouraging donations, and also launched “Honor Our Heroes,” a community-based platform in which listeners nominated local veterans to be selected as one of the seven parade grand marshals. In 2013, KTAR-FM employees also donated more than 700 hours of community service and helped raise close to $2 million in charitable giving.
