WLEN-FM Raises $23,000 in "Mission Possible" Fundraiser

Topic: Neighbors in Need

“Mission Possible,” a fundraiser organized by WLEN-FM in Adrian, Mich., couldn’t have been named more appropriately. The campaign, which aids the Lenawee County Mission in its work to house the homeless, more than doubled its original goal, raising $23,000. Donations were pledged during several activities, including a maize challenge between WLEN’s morning host Jerry Hayes and promotions director Lori Sallows, and a one-day auction. The main event was a 24-hour live broadcast from a “Homeless Campout,” where community members spent a night sleeping in appliance boxes along side Mission residents to heighten awareness of the realities the homeless face. The Mission plans to use the funds raised to either expand its current facility or move to new accommodations, where it will be able to provide shelter for more people in need.
